Stormwater Maintenance
The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the Township’s storm sewer system that conveys rainwater to nearby creeks and streams. This system consists of retention ponds, swales, thousands of inlet boxes, miles of pipes and many other drainage structures. The department tries to keep inlet grates clean and free of debris by street sweeping and regular cleaning before and after storms. A repair crew works most of the spring and summer on rebuilding inlets and pipes.
But with over 4,000 inlets inlets scattered throughout the Township, we also need help from the public. If you have a storm inlet in front of your property, you can help us by removing any debris that accumulates on the grate. The road or property you keep from flooding may be your own.
